A Note from Pam:
Our time together is crafted with the philosophy of Svadhyaya in mind. My goal is to guide students toward a practice of self-study and self-reflection. It’s my hope a personal practice starts to develop within each student, one they carry far off the mat.
Be sure to bring your mat and some water. I also incorporate the use of blocks (generally two) with the practices I offer. Blocks are a useful tool that have the ability to enhance an asana practice. Don’t let the blocks stop you from coming. George the pig is the keeper of the extras that we have here and he’ll be happy to share. I also have some chairs available that are first come, first serve. If you have other props you can’t practice without, please feel free to bring them. There’s room to create your personal space, one that encourages the creation of a practice that is truly yours.
I’ll see you in the yard!
About Backyard Yoga
Talulah’s Garden offers all-levels, mobility-focused, functional movement Backyard Yoga classes for every body in Cumberland County, Maine. Rooted in the essence of connection, our practice goes beyond the mat. Here in the yard, we cultivate not only a personal bond between you and your practice but also a deeper connection with your community.
Founded by Pam Cates in her backyard in June 2022, our mission is to remove the hesitation surrounding the practice of yoga by creating visibility that yoga is so much more than the asanas (movements). It’s a philosophy of self-study that can support you physically & emotionally. As a collective, we aim to spread kindness by having a community presence that wraps arms around others & offers encouragement; encouragement to pursue passions, to take care of their bodies, to care for their hearts & to pay these things forward.
Embracing the philosophy of abundance, we invite diverse yoga teachers to join our offerings, enriching the practice experience and highlighting its personal nuances. Together, we cultivate an environment where generosity, inclusivity, and growth flourish, embodying the belief that there is enough for everyone, both on and off the mat.
If you are interested in creating a more fulfilled life - both physically and emotionally - I welcome you to try a class with Backyard Yoga.
